This book is simply the best travel guide for Paris. The information inside is well-laid out, accessible and artistically well-presented. I'd said the best points are:
1. The book itself is physically well-crafted with strong book covers, nicely laid out pages and durable. In addition, while not quite pocket size, the book will fit in an oversized coat pocket which ideal for traveling around light.
2. Size is Important as they say. In this case, this book's mobility will help you explore Paris while you're on the bus, Metro or taking a book by its breakdown by Districts.
3. Art and graphics are superb and well-laid out. In essence, the book itself is almost a coffee table book (perhaps a small one!) because it is so well-produced.
4. History and Content are excellent with history, geography, personalities, historical context and more.
Buy this book and you will cherish it long after your Paris trip and a reminder of the excellent journey you had there. I used this book when writing my Paris murder-mystery, A Cold Death: An Aristotle Witzer Mystery.

Went to Paris in early summer of 2008 for the first time and took this book along. Also brought along Rick Steves Paris guide. DK books are great but rather heavy. I especially love the pictures in DK books. The combination of DK and Rick Steves worked out really well. There are info in DK not in Rick Steves, and vice versa. It was really funny to see many visitors with both DK and Rick Steves tour book while in Paris. Some online sources recommend putting book covers on the tour books so you don't stand out. It's not worth it. It's easy to spot visitors.

This series is, as far as I am concerned, is the best. As a French teacher, I kept a copy for my students to use in a project at the 2nd year level. For me, although it is heavy, it is ideal for exploring the city. The weight is far outweighed by all that it provieds!

THis tour guide is great to give you the feel of paris but, i do not like the way it is organized. The book has great pictures of the sights but it hard to plan out your trip. I suggest rick steves paris book over this one although i did bring both with me

I spent three weeks in Paris this summer, which of course can be intimidating, finding things to do for that long in a city where I don't speak the language. But this book was my lifesaver, it guided me on EVERYTHING worth visiting!! Comprehensive, super easy to read, great metro map and city map (very important), interesting details, photos- what more could one ask for?
Don't buy any other book, just bring this in your purse. It is your best friend on your trip. Have fun!
